ऐ रूह-ए-अस्र जाग कहाँ सो रही है तू
आवाज़ दे रहे हैं पयम्बर सलीब से

Oh my soul, matured with certain values, Where are you sleeping? The generations sacrificed themselves to establish a value system for a civilized society. (therefore act against the wrong doings inside & outside, raise your voice, don't be a mute ) For one's wrong doing, innermost values are the ultimate watching mentor.

देखा है ज़िंदगी को कुछ इतने क़रीब से चेहरे तमाम लगने लगे हैं अजीब से

रूह : soul
अस्र : age, epoch, era
रूह-ए-अस्र : soul of contemporary times
पयम्बर : messenger,
Prophet सलीब : a cross, mild, weak, affable
